Pangasinan’s Hundred Islands charm Hollywood actress

ALAMINOS CITY, Nov 8 (PIA) – Hollywood Actress Rachel Grant, known as a ‘Bond girl’ in the movie Die Another Day, visited Pangasinan on Sunday and was fascinated by the beauty of the province’s top tourist attraction, the Hundred Islands National Park here.

Grant, who was born in the Philippines, has captivated millions of fans around the world.

She dived into the depths of the islands and frolicked there for more than an hour, enchanted by its serene and abundant aquatic life, the city information office reported.

Grant was fascinated by the giant clams in one of the islands and the different species of fish in the deep sea.

Before her island adventure, Grant visited the city’s GK Eco-Village at Sto. Rosario in barangay Lucap, a project of the Gawad Kalinga, Ramos Foundation, Alaminos 100, City of Hundred Islands Employees Cooperative (Chiempco) and the city government.

Grant and Mayor Hernani Braganza led the ceremonial laying of bricks (made of waste materials) in the center of the four-hectare village, where 18 units of decent houses are now home to poor residents.

An advocate of the Gawad Kalinga since 2007 and a Global Ambassador to Human Nature, Grant thanked Alaminians for the warm welcome accorded her and wished the dwellers a happy and contented living while expressing hope that the project will also be replicated in many other parts of the country.

Grant also visited the city’s Mangrove Forest Park in barangay Bued to take part in planting mangrove seedlings.

“There is so much more to a bigger house, lots of money and that is having a happy and loving family and friends, things that really matter in life,” said Grant. (ANL/VHS-PIA 1 Pangasinan with reports from CIO)
