Ilocos Sur opens Adventure Zone
BANTAY, Ilocos Sur -- Various sports activities such as rock climbing, zip line and others have attracted local and foreign tourists as provincial officials opened the unique Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone in Banaoang.
Newsmen learned that the Adventure Zone would showcase sports activities such as rock climbing and rappeling at the rocky mountains, kayaking and zorb ball along the historic Abra River and zip line that will go across the river.
Gov. Chavit Singson said that the provincial government of Ilocos Sur had trained several individuals that will serve as personnel of the Adventure Zone to ensure quality service and security of tourists who will visit the place.
Singson said that in line with this, Traverse Ilocos Sur Adventure Challenge: Discover the Wonders of Ilocos Sur, participated in by 15 celebrities including Emilio Garcia, Tyron Perez and Sam Pinto was staged here. The race started at the famous Vigan Heritage Village all the way to Empanadahan, Pagburnayan, Baluarte Zoo, Bantay Bell Tower, and ended in Banaoang where they swim and tried kayaking as they signalled the formal opening of the Adventure Zone.
Singson pointed out that they developed the Adventure Zone to become an additional spot for stopover of tourists as they usually ask for other activities they can pull off during their stay in the province.
“Aside from alluring tourists to flock to our province, this will be an additional source of revenue as we collect fees for using the facilities,” said Singson.
Vice Gov. DV Savellano said the Adventure Zone is now open every day for those who want to try the amenities.
“I myself can say that Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone is different from those in other provinces specially the zip line not atop trees but will pass through the clean waters of Abra River,” Savellano said.
